In June 2013, the University of Melbourne became the first University to commit to achieving a Green Star Communities rating. The University recognised that environmental action and livability are important to staff and students, and the communities rating was an opportunity to demonstrate University-wide commitment to best practice sustainability, beyond the three Green Star rated buildings at Parkville at the time. In June 2017, we became the first and only University to achieve a 6 Star Communities rating – equating to world leadership – for our Parkville campus.
